According to US-EPA guidelines, label claims for products sold in the United States are restricted to inhibitory activity against microbes for the protection of the treated article and against problems such as discoloration, odor or other types of product deterioration or spoilage. The use of treated articles in a public health environment may require an affirmative disclaimer that no public health benefit is provided by the antimicrobial protection in the treated article.
